[talk-au] Dribl - attribution missing?

Hello mappers,

before I reach out to them I would like to get a second opinion.

the interface is a bit tricky but when looking at the soccer grounds
listed under https://mwfa.dribl.com/grounds
one can get to a map pre-view of the location. (click on the arrow on
the right)

This view looks very OSM to me. Strangely there is no attribution or
copy right to anyone.

What are your thoughts?

Hi Sebastian

I checked the Aarat Reserve location and it does look very different to OSM data, in my opinion: different building shapes, different area shape for the reserve, different building locations, less buildings in OSM...

Which location were you looking at?

I checked Boondah Reserve,
here the spotty buildings made it stand out as likely OSM to me. A
commercial supplier of maps would either have them all or none I think.

Happy to hear other opinions.

The main thing that stands out to me is the variations on the street
suffixes. OSM uses the full names for street, place, road, etc. The maps
associated with dribl use a mix of abbreviations and abbreviations ending
in a full stop ('.').

That, and other differences between OSM and the maps on dribl indicate to
me that they have not sourced the information from OSM. I had a quick look
around, and cannot easily identify the source of the map data, but it does
look like these are static maps. They cannot be dragged, zoomed, etc. The
map link at the bottom takes you to Google Maps, but the data does not seem
to match that either.

Hi John,
Yes I came to the same conclusion.
Will leave it for now.
